"Zen is an effort to become alert and awake" - Zen Master Previous Article : What are Golden Cages ? Following my earlier article What are Golden Cages, let's look at how we can live free from the Golden Cages. The key realization for anyone trapped in the Golden Cage is as following : The door to the Golden Cage is always open. We however choose to accept the security and the misery of the cage because of our greed, fears and mistrust about life outside the cage. We are all unique in our experiences and we have a subconscious sense of what is important for our well being and our soul. What I may perceive as Golden Cage may not be so for you. And that is fine. As long as we are candid with ourselves and accurately look at how things are stacked in our lives, we will have a realistic sense of what are Golden Cages for us and what are not. Once we identify the Golden Cages, the next question that comes up is How painful it is for us to live in the Golden Cage ? If the pain is below the tolerance threshold perhaps you don't need to do anything. However if the pain is above the tolerance threshold you know deep inside that this situation cannot go on for long. And something has to change. And that's when you have to start looking at the relationship of the 3 elements : Greed, Fear and Mistrust to your tendency to not open the door and fly away. (If soul is figuratively an intense, beautiful, unique bird, a day comes when its wings open and it flies in the wild sky accepting the fate which comes of living in the wilderness of the open blue sky.) Once we realize that life outside the Golden Cage is far more healthier, beautiful and has the intensity that we yearn for in our souls, a transformation begins to happen. The decision to let go and go beyond the greed, fears and mistrust starts deepening and we start experiencing glimpses of inner freedom. The soul accepts and revels in the intensity, joy and responsibility of living in the wild and prepares itself for the flight in the blue sky. Previous Article : What are Golden Cages ? The artist first thinks about creating outside the box. Then, if she is dedicated, she realizes that there is no box. When this happens, fear, pain, jealously, and so on fade away with the dark side of the ego.
