In 2014 beginning I went through 10 Rolfing sessions. If Rolfing is a new term for you then check here for more details.
I was primarily attracted to Rolfing because as a Life Coach my primary topic of interest is human potential growth and well being, and I was interested in other arts and techniques which also promote human potential growth and well being. While I was focusing more on the cognitive, creative and spiritual techniques, Rolfing I felt bought the body well-being part into the equation and that got me curious. That's how I volunteered for the 10 sessions.
What I liked about my sessions was that although it was very subtle but there were certain distinct improvements in feeling of body well being. Especially if your Rolfer knows what he or she is doing and you relate well with him as a client.
I was fortunate to receive my sessions from a very experienced Rolfing Instructor based in Austria, Europe who has been for several decades in the field of Rolfing. One piece of advice from him which stayed with me, from our regular conversations before our Rolfing sessions was : "Keep taking small steps towards your positive path". It particularly resonated with me, because just around those days I felt I am surrounded by very "short-cut, jump-the-gun, build Rome in one day" kind of vibes from the environment. The typical vibes and messages we tend to hurl at each other in society, in our regular, daily stressed lives. And I was wondering what's going on. And this conversation helped me to refocus and get a perspective on how I want to concentrate on next steps. Also coming from him, it also carried a lot of credibility as I could clearly sense that what he is sharing is coming from his experience of handling lot of similar dilemmas and challenges himself.
If you have a vision about your path, then surround yourself with people who inspire you and who you can learn from. Although there is lot of negativity and dullness in this world, simultaneously there are also many remarkable individuals living. To meet them we need to keep our eyes and heart open. The path will become much more satisfying and joyful when we are surrounded by remarkable people. I call them Friends on the Path.
